The Acts
Discipleship Training SchoolYWAM DTS in Bangkok 2009
Come experience Jesus here in Bangkok – a city full of diversity in culture, language, food and nationalities! Come and be a part of this journey with us – come and be the world changer you are meant to be!
The mandate of Youth With A Mission is: To Know God and Make Him Known. This is the purpose of the Discipleship Training School (DTS).
We desire to prepare our students to be messengers of the Gospel in every sphere of society. Our desire through this course is to see you develop intimacy with God. Right relationship with God affects the way we live our lives and the way we relate to those around us.
Cross cultural exposure and a global awareness is emphasized throughout the DTS. We desire to see you answer God’s call to go into all the world and make disciples of all nations. The focus is on character development. DTS is also the entry level course for all who wish to be on staff of YWAM International. The Bangkok DTS runs once a year. The lecture phase is 12 weeks long and is in 2 parts. After the first 6 weeks, we go on a 2 week outreach to a nation outside Thailand. A longer outreach within Thailand is planned after the second 6 weeks of lectures.
Topics include:
- Hearing God’s Voice - The Nature & Character of God – knowing God as a Father
- Walking in Right Relationship – Forgiveness, repentance - Learning God’s heart for the Lost
- How to share your faith – evangelism - How to share God’s love to the poor and needy
- Spiritual Warfare - Intercession
- Developing Intimacy with God - And more…
Important Information
Our DTS is a full-time, live-in discipleship program. We have lectures in the morning followed by other activities in the afternoon. such as: Community Service, Small Group times, Evangelism, and Study Time. We also have a few night lectures each week. Students live in dormitory style housing with simple, basic amenities.
It will not be possible for you to attend a DTS and work a full time job. Please bear this in mind as you apply. It is a full time, live in school. Life lessons go beyond the classroom into learning how to practically walk out what is learnt. So much is learnt outside of classroom time in simply living out life. In the DTS, students have a full schedule and are expected to participate in all school activities. Saturdays are normally off and on Sundays we ask students to attend a local church of their choice.
In Youth With A Mission (YWAM) we believe in an International Financial Scale which is based on per capita income. We believe that this will be a just and fair way in which we charge school fees. This means that we charge students different fees depending on the nation they come from. This is so that it is affordable for everyone to do a DTS if they choose to.
